We are very pleased to announce the launch of the Meridian Chinese Studies Centre (MECS).

The MECS has a clear goal: the teaching of Chinese language and culture in the UK. To reach this goal, MECS has created the revolutionary 'TDR' method, which is suitable even for those who with less capability for language learning. TDR Books have adopted Chinese traditional philosophies and culture as the keys for decoding the roots of grammar. By using this method, the barriers of culture can be reduced tremendously and even elementary level students can communicate effectively with Chinese people!

Sixty hours of participation in the TDR course can be enough to grasp the fundamental grammatical concepts and read 80% of the most frequently used Chinese characters. However, we recognise that every student learns at their own pace. If you do not feel confident about your Chinese level after attending the elementary level TDR course, you may attend classes for a further term free of charge. The TDR approach also has a unique teaching team - for each of our courses we can provide at least one tutors to assist the main teacher.

Our classes are held at convenient locations in central London -
The American Church, 79a Tottenham Court Road, London W1T 4TD; and 46 Museum Street, London WC1A 1LY. In addition, MECS is very willing to send teachers to any place you choose for your lessons.

We offer the following types of classes:

-Non-degree Chinese language classes;
-Weekday daytime, evening and Saturday classes;
-Preparation for the HSK (Chinese Official Exam);
-16 week part-time TDR Teacher Training Courses;
-Lectures on aspects of Chinese culture, literature, economy, society, politics and history;
-Classes for Chinese speakers on the Chinese classics;
-Mandarin Speaking Improvement Course.
